Purpose

The purpose of this site is to really “set the record straight” about Mormon Fundamentalism.

Millennial Press has published a series of books titled “Setting the Record Straight” intended for the mainstream Latter-day Saint audience.  Although they are to be commended for their volume on Plural Marriage (written by Jessie Embry, and which was largely accurate and fair), their book on Mormon Fundamentalism leaves much to be desired.  It was written by Brian C. Hales, who has written a couple of similar volumes, containing many inaccuracies – both factual and doctrinal.

As – up until now – Anti-Fundamentalist books have had mostly a limited audience (mainly those looking for an easy excuse to leave Mormon Fundamentalism), responses to them have tended to only circulate amongst the Mormon Fundamentalist community.

However, it is expected that his latest book will have a larger readership, and since comments on Fundamentalism have become more popular amongst the LDS blogging community, and Fundamentalists have often been in the news of late, this site has been created to publish some more acurate information online, as well as offer a direct response to Hales’ latest book.

I agree that people should have the record shown to them acurately and “strait”. I don’t like all of the in accuracies in Brian Hales books. I am actually wrighting a book to combat some of his misleadings

I listened to Brian Hales on a podcast today and wasn’t impressed. It was just more of the inability to see that the priesthood exists with or without the Church.
I do wish there were more websites similar to this where those of us who are seeking could talk with folks that really do have priesthood authority.

I wish some of my fellow Latter-day Saints would realize that the reason so many folks don’t “feel” the power of the Priesthood or the Holy Ghost like they thought they would, is simply because there are lineages of priesthood in the Church that are broken. How can you hold an office without first holding the priesthood.
